Rhiannon Kendall is a contemporary Artist and experienced, dynamic Prison Art Lecturer based in North Yorkshire. Rhiannon holds a First Class BA and an MA in Fine Art specializing in drawing, as well as a PGCE in Post‑Compulsory Arts Education. Her art practice incorporates drawing, painting, collage, poetry, and spoken word, with a focus on exploring overlooked narratives connected to identity, working‑class heritage, memory, and the emotional landscapes of place.

Alongside her artistic practice, Rhiannon has extensive experience delivering arts education within custodial settings, working with both women and men across a range of creative and accredited art and art for wellbeing and mental health programmes. Her teaching approach is grounded in accessibility, trauma‑informed practice, and a commitment to fostering confidence, critical thinking, and personal agency through the arts.

Exhibitions & Projects:

Rhiannon’s work has been exhibited nationally, and in 2022 she was awarded an AA2A residency at Loughborough University, later receiving the national Artist of the Year award for her research-led project Ghosts from a Small Town.

Other group exhibitions include SelfScapes at Dalby Forest, Ilkley Manor House and the Leeds Playhouse Summer Show. She has been longlisted for the prestigious Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize previously, recognising the strength of her drawing practice within a national context. Most recently, she completed Know Your Neighbourhood — a year‑long, Arts Council England–funded project in Castleford that explored local heritage, place, and community identity through collaborative arts engagement.
